It will focus on “accelerating overall business development” for PUBG while being led by Chang Han Kim who previously served as its executive producer.
Although PUBG has achieved worldwide fame, few non-video game enthusiasts have heard about it. This is likely due to Brendan Greene and his team at Bluehole not marketing the game aggressively through traditional channels; rather they rely on viral marketing through streaming sites such as Twitch as their method for expanding it.
Bluehole initially considered PUBG an unprofitable venture; however, due to its revolutionary gameplay and social media integration it quickly became one of the world’s most played games and its developers recently unveiled a brand new multiplayer mode which will draw even more players in.
In order to maintain its momentum, PUBG will soon undergo a major upgrade this year. The update will feature new maps, vehicles and weapons systems; changes are being implemented in order to increase speed and quality in game; furthermore, its playing area will shrink every couple minutes, prompting players to come closer together.
PUBG’s rise has caught the interest of several major companies, such as Microsoft and Tencent. According to The Investor, both firms are interested in purchasing Bluehole Studios; however Tencent may hold an edge due to already owning a significant stake in this game developer.
