Who Owns PUBG Now?

PUBG is one of the most beloved PC and console games ever created, widely credited with popularizing battle royale gaming genre and selling over 70 million copies globally.

Bluehole Studio of South Korea and its subsidiary companies such as PUBG Corporation and Ginno Games owns the game, while Chinese tech giant Tencent owns a 1.5% stake.

Tencent is one of the world’s premier games publishers and holds stakes in two popular battle royale titles currently on the market – Fortnite and Apex Legends respectively. Additionally, Tencent serves as an internet and entertainment giant in China similar to Google or Facebook for many users; best known outside China due to WeChat (recently recognized by President Trump in an executive order).

The company holds numerous investments in games companies as well. For example, it owns 40% of Fortnite developer Epic Games, as well as 29% stakes in Funcom (creators of Conan Exiles and The Secret World) and 51 % ownership of Finnish developer Supercell who produce Clash of Titans/Royale titles.

More recently, China has invested in Western game companies. Last year it bought into Rocket League developer Psyonix and holds an interest in Sharkmob (founded by former The Division and Hitman devs ). Furthermore, China owns part of Discord’s voice/text chat platform.

According to Reuters, Alibaba Group’s shift toward foreign acquisitions may be related to China’s tightening regulations on gaming firms. Accordingly, Alibaba seeks innovative companies with talented management teams that can help it compete globally markets.

While Softbank has made some full purchases, most of its investments have taken the form of stakes or minority shares. Since 2017 Softbank has owned a significant chunk of PUBG developer Bluehole – and was even reported to be looking into buying it outright – as well as large stakes such as owning 79 percent in Arma developers Bohemia and 56 percent interest in Life Is Strange developers Dontnod; additionally it holds a small position in mobile MOBA King of Glory developers Bohemia.

Blue Hole

PUBG became one of the biggest surprises of 2017. Since its release, its popularity has skyrocketed rapidly; surpassing one billion downloads on mobile devices and earning $4.3 billion in revenue. Bluehole Studio developed this game, and their headquarters can be found in Bundang-gu, Seongnam in South Korea with offices all around the globe.

The developer of popular battle royale game PUBG has established a subsidiary company dedicated to managing global operations for its franchise, named PUBG Corp. It will focus on “accelerating overall business development” for PUBG while being led by Chang Han Kim who previously served as its executive producer.

Although PUBG has achieved worldwide fame, few non-video game enthusiasts have heard about it. This is likely due to Brendan Greene and his team at Bluehole not marketing the game aggressively through traditional channels; rather they rely on viral marketing through streaming sites such as Twitch as their method for expanding it.

Bluehole initially considered PUBG an unprofitable venture; however, due to its revolutionary gameplay and social media integration it quickly became one of the world’s most played games and its developers recently unveiled a brand new multiplayer mode which will draw even more players in.

In order to maintain its momentum, PUBG will soon undergo a major upgrade this year. The update will feature new maps, vehicles and weapons systems; changes are being implemented in order to increase speed and quality in game; furthermore, its playing area will shrink every couple minutes, prompting players to come closer together.

PUBG’s rise has caught the interest of several major companies, such as Microsoft and Tencent. According to The Investor, both firms are interested in purchasing Bluehole Studios; however Tencent may hold an edge due to already owning a significant stake in this game developer.

Ginno Games

PUBG has become an obsession for gamers worldwide. People seem to prioritize it over their daily tasks because the game is so addictive. Reports indicate a teenage boy attempted suicide due to being unable to stop playing the game!

Though PUBG is already an enormous hit, its early days remain crucial. Still a work in progress and filled with flaws, but offering plenty of fun as it develops further. Boasting its own distinct style that differs from other battle royale games while being easy for newcomers to grasp quickly makes PUBG all the more impressive as an astounding success story. No wonder so many are playing it!

PUBG Corporation was formed in 2009 as Bluehole Ginno Games; later that same year it was rebranded PUBG Corporation with offices located throughout Korea, North America, Europe and Japan. Since PUBG’s debut, its success has given rise to spin-off games and mobile versions but the original remains the most beloved title in terms of player numbers.

When PUBG first released in 2017, it quickly became a massive success. While Fortnite from Epic may now lead in popularity for battle royale titles, PUBG remains the biggest battle royale game available and continues to draw new players interested in trying its gameplay out. Furthermore, its success has inspired newcomers looking for new ways to experience it.

PUBG mobile version offers a cost-effective option for gamers who don’t wish to invest in costly console or PC systems. Downloading it is free, offering various maps, weapons and vehicles across both iOS and Android devices.

The mobile version of PUBG is one of India’s most downloaded games with over 50 million downloads, and currently in the process of being ported over to Microsoft Windows. When this release occurs it will include new vehicles, weapons and maps; additionally the company released a trailer to promote it further and has introduced a feature which shows players where other users are located on the map.
