Terraria: How to Beat the Moon Lord in Cthulhu

If you’re playing Terraria, then you have probably heard about the Moon Lord and how he’s the hardest boss in the game. It’s easy to see why, as this final boss challenges players to rethink their strategies and tactics that they’ve learned in previous boss arenas.

The Moon Lord spawns after you’ve defeated the Lunatic Cultist. The event spawns 4 Celestial Pillars around the world, each themed after a different celestial phenomenon (Solar, Vortex, Stardust, and Nebula). Each one spawns a variety of enemies and requires the player to kill a certain number of them in order to activate the pillar and fight the Moon Lord directly. Once the pillar is destroyed, it sets off a one minute preparation period in which the Moon Lord spawns and attacks.

Unlike most other enemies, the Moon Lord does not attack the player with any type of weapon – instead, he attacks with his head eye, which fires a Phantasmal Deathray, a teleporting laser that can deal up to 100 damage on normal difficulty and 120 on Hardmode. It can also pass through solid blocks.

There are several ways to defeat the Moon Lord, including utilizing the Rod of Discord. It’s a powerful Hardmode tool, and can be useful in avoiding the Phantasmal Deathray.

A key part of defeating the Moon Lord is to balance out damage. While you want to do as much damage to the head as possible, don’t destroy it too early or you will have an invincible opponent that continually attacks for the duration of the fight and will be harder to deal with.

Another good way to defeat the Moon Lord is by using a lot of projectiles. There are several different types of projectiles that can be used against him, including spheres and homing missiles.

The Spheres are great for hitting the head eye, while the homing missiles can be used to hit all of his hands simultaneously. The spheres are especially powerful because they can deal more damage than any of the Moon Lord’s other attacks, so it’s important to take advantage of them whenever possible.

For this reason, it’s best to have a sphere on your character when the head eye is firing so that you can quickly hit it with the sphere before it can attack you. This will allow you to avoid most of the Moon Lord’s attacks, and you can even use a sphere to get into position for some of his other attacks, such as the Phantasmal Deathray.

When the head eye is attached to the Moon Lord, it will periodically open for a few seconds and fire a Phantasmal Deathray, an incredibly damaging beam that can deal up to 100 damage on normal or 120 on Hardmode. It can pass through solid blocks, but you’ll need to be close enough to the head eye for it to do so.

Once the head eye is destroyed, the Moon Lord’s core is opened and it can spawn a True Eye of Cthulhu. This enemy does the first four attacks of the Moon Lord, and if it’s defeated it will despawn. The Moon Lord will then shake violently and explode, leaving only a skeleton behind.
