Is Vitamin C an Underconsumed Nutrient?

While vitamin C is no longer considered a public health hazard, it can still lead to an inadequate intake in some people, especially if they eat a diet that is not high in fruits and vegetables. Insufficient vitamin C intake can also result in bleeding gums, easy bruising, and a slow healing of wounds. Some foods high in vitamin C include bell peppers, broccoli, guava, papaya, and kiwi.
