How to vote in South Dakota

Getting registered, that’s a big question! You can register online or by mail, but if you’re a shopper on the go or in a hurry, head to your local polling place. You can also update your voter information at the county office, or by phone. It’s a good idea to do so well in advance of your trip to the voting booth. If you’ve never voted before, the experience can be intimidating. You’ll want to be sure to make a good impression and take your time.
Thankfully, the state of South Dakota has one of the friendliest Election Commissions in the country. The office, which serves more than 40 counties in the southern part of the state, is staffed by more than 300 employees and volunteers dedicated to helping voters cast their ballots.
