How to Hide and Disable the Shared Links in Safari on iOS 15

If you’re a big fan of integration, you’ll probably love the new Shared with You feature that shows up in apps like Photos, Music, TV, and Safari. It’s great for getting to see content shared with you by friends and family quickly. But if you’re not a fan of it, there are a few ways to remove it from iOS or disable it entirely.

Hide the Shared Links Section

If you don’t want to see the ‘Shared with You’ section on the Safari start page, you can hide it from appearing there in the Customize Start Page option. To do this, open Safari and then scroll down to the bottom of the Start Page. Here, tap on Edit and toggle the switch next to ‘Shared with You’ to turn it off.

De-clutter the Shared With You Tab in Messages

If someone shares a link to an article with you in an iMessage conversation, it’ll appear right on the Start Page of Safari in iOS 15. That can be annoying.

But thankfully, you can remove the Shared with You links from Safari and even remove them from a specific iMessage group. And if you’re still worried about it, you can turn off the automatic sharing of these links to all iMessage contacts, which will prevent them from showing up in your Shared with You section on the Start Page or within other Messages conversations.

You can also tap on a Messages contact’s name who has shared the link for a second, and a dropdown list will appear. You can then tap on ‘Remove Link’ and it will disappear from the Shared with You tab in Messages immediately.

Delete All of the Shared With You Entries in an App

One of the best things about the Shared with You feature is that it’s easy to delete all of the entries from an app at once. If you’re concerned about privacy, it’s a good idea to turn off the automatic sharing of these entries in the first place.

How to Add a Shared Link to a Tab Group

Another useful way to get more out of your Shared with You feature is to create a Tab Group that’s shared among your friends and family. You can create a tab group with related web links, or just add one to make it easier to find them.

Once a tab group is shared, it’s accessible from the sidebar and you can also share individual tabs in it by tapping on the ‘Share’ button on the Tab Group. Anyone in the tab group can view, add or remove tabs.

When you add a shared web link to a tab group, you can move it around in the tab strip, or add it to the group’s main tab. You can even tap on the link and then choose ‘Open in Tab Group’ to quickly open it in that tab group.

Using this feature is also a great way to keep track of all the content you’ve received from friends and family. You can even use it to forward articles and videos you like to Twitter or Facebook, or email them to other people.
