Founded by Elmer F. Boyd in 1905, the funeral home is one of the oldest African-American funeral homes in the city. Initially located at E. 43rd and Central Avenue, the business moved to E. 43rd Street in 1911 when Lewis J. Dean joined the family business. The Boyd family expanded their service offerings and opened offices in East Cleveland and Warrensville Heights in the 1990s.
